The convergent believe their deputies

The crisis of infrastructure suffered by Catalonia has not resulted in a reversal of votes

PSC-PSOE, which has expanded its advantage as the most popular force in the Autonomous Region

with of the vote and deputies, four more than in . The Socialist candidate, Carme

Chacon, has managed to equate the result obtained by the PSOE in , when it recorded its best

figures in Catalonia.

The other major state party, the PP, has improved its results, after increasing from six to eight

representatives in Congress and achieve new seats in Barcelona and Lleida.

The campaign bipolarizada between the two major parties has made a dent in state ERC, which has

seen reduced to less than half the number of deputies from four years ago, when they won eight.

Republicans lost half the weight in Barcelona and representation in Tarragona and Lleida. ERC

gets only three deputies, which means they lose their group in Congress. The candidate of the

Congress ERC, Joan Ridao, did not hesitate to acknowledge yesterday, a 'bad outcome'. Ridao

attributed the decline to 'part' of the electorate in ERC chose to make a 'useful vote against

the PP' that has benefited the Socialists. The other nationalist party, CiU, continues as the

second largest political party with representation in Catalonia and third in Spain. The

federation has Josep Antoni Duran i Lleida as the candidate has managed to remain outside the

progress of the two main parties. The convergent believe their deputies will allow them to be

'critical' to defend the interests of Catalonia in Madrid. For its part, Initiative Per Catalunya

Verds Esquerra Unida-Alternative (ICV-USA) also has lost one of its two seats.
